CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former CMPD Officer Thomas Allen received 36 months probation and avoided jail time after pleading guilty in court Wednesday morning.
Allen took responsibility for taking inappropriate photos of girls under 18 while directing a CMPD Explorers program.
Allen will not have to register as a sex offender as long as he stays in treatment for what he called a pornography addiction.
Judge Lisa Bell also ordered him to have no contact with females under 18.
Allen was arrested in February and charged with taking pictures of girls in the Explorers program while they were doing physical activities. Some of those photos showed parts of their underwear. The photos were taken without the girls’ consent, a violation of the state’s secret peeping law.
Allen was fired from his job at CMPD shortly after his arrest.
