WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Obama says he is ready to tackle the immigration issue with an executive order. Some Republicans in Congress are calling it a declaration of political war.
The President is considering using an executive order to allow millions of undocumented immigrants to stay in the U.S. legally. That would bypass the Republican-controlled Congress.
“I will use all the lawful authority that I posses to try to make the system work better,” said the President. “And that’s going to happen.”
“There’s a lot of people on our side who think he’s trying to bait us into some sort of fight,” said Rep. Tom Cole (R, OK).
Some Republicans want to stop funding the government, to stop the President’s immigration policies. Others want to take him to court for executive overreach.
