Hot & Steamy Close to Week
We're back to basics with hot and humid days with pop-up storms heading into the weekend.
Former Tropical Storm Fred may have come and gone, but the system has certainly left its mark on the Carolinas. Over a dozen tornado warnings raked across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area and nearly a foot of rain has fallen in the High Country since yesterday. Fortunately, the pattern ahead looks much calmer. A humid area of high pressure has set up shop over the Appalachians, keeping us hot and steamy with rain chances in the isolated range. Expect temperatures near 90° in the Foothills and Piedmont while the High Country tops out closer to 80°.
A weak disturbance may approach the Carolinas from the west on Friday, but severe activity is unlikely. Expect slightly higher rain chances for the last day of the workweek before more stable air arrives by the weekend. The heat and humidity should carry well into the final week of August.
