CHARLOTTE, NC: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Chief Rodney Monroe says detectives have recovered what they believe to be the remains of missing teacher Bianca Tanner.
Around 4am this morning, CMPD detectives with the assistance of the Charlotte Fire Department and the York County K9 Unit located human remains in the 10400 block of Calico Crossing Lane. The medical examiner will confirm the identity of those remains and determine the cause of death. Chief Monroe credits a witness for providing key information about finding the remains. However, sources close to the family say that Smith confessed to killing Tanner.
CMPD is charging Tanner’s boyfriend, Angelo Grayson Smith, Jr., with murder. He was re-arrested earlier this morning without incident. He will be held at the Mecklenburg County Jail where he was to be interviewed by Homicide/ADW detectives.
Tanner’s family has been notified of Smith’s arrest.
