Brooklyn-Founded Emmy Squared Pizza Joins Plaza Midwood Neighborhood
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emmy Squared Pizza will open its newest location in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood in early September of 2021, bringing its Detroit-style pizza and notorious “Le Big Matt” burger along with.
Previously occupied by retail stores on Central Avenue, the newly renovated 4,800 square foot restaurant was designed to emulate existing locations in New York, D.C., Philadelphia, Louisville, Kentucky, Nashville, and Atlanta.
Emmy Squared Pizza, founded in Brooklyn, will have options for dine-in, takeout, and delivery services.
Officials say the restaurant will serve its signature square shape, crispy bottom, fluffy dough, cheesy “frico” crust pizza as well as its menu of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers.
“The Emmy Squared team is both excited and grateful to be part of the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. It’s amazing to see how this community has already embraced us,” says Emily Hyland, partner and co-founder, who recently relocated to Charlotte from NYC. “Our team is dedicated to engraining ourselves in the local culture and getting involved in every way we can – with inclusivity, community, and hospitality at the forefront of our mission.”
At the new location on Central Avenue, officials say outdoor seating will be available in the previously unutilized alley apace behind the restaurant.
Emmy Squared Charlotte’s menu will feature a specialty pizza dedicated and inspired by the Queen City.
The restaurant will also offer beer options from its neighbors including Pilot Brewing Company, Resident Culture Brewing Company, Protagonist NoDa, Wooden Robot Brewery, Divine Barrel Brewing, and Twenty-Six Acres Brewing Company.
