High pressure controls our weather into early next week

High pressure will control our weather through the remainder of the weekend and into early next week. This means mostly sunny skies with only a few isolated afternoon thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains through Wednesday. It will be hot and humid with high temperatures about 5-7 degrees above average.The second half of next week looks more unsettled with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile Hurricane Henri will remain out in the western Atlantic tracking north towards New England throughout the weekend.The current forecast track brings the center of Henri onshore on eastern Long Island, NY or extreme southern New England around midday to into the early afternoon on Sunday. Widespread heavy rain and strong winds are expected from eastern NY into New England.
