Harsh Heat, Humidity Hang Around
Heat index values may regularly top out at or above 100º in Piedmont through the remainder of August.
August has been our hottest month of the year so far, and it’s showing no signs of stopping as we close out its final week. Expect highs in the 80s and 90s in the High Country and Piedmont, respectively, as mainly sunny skies continue their dominance over the Carolinas. A weak disturbance will move through the region Wednesday into Thursday, propping up isolated storm chances, but most locations will remain dry through the weekend. Factoring in the humidity, it could feel like the triple digits at times south and east of the Metro. The latter half of the first week of September looks a bit cooler, but until then, we’re stuck with the heat.
