WADESBORO, NC – Agents from the State Bureau of Investigations spent much of the day Monday going in and out of a home on Jim Hanna Lane in Wadesboro.
Neighbors say that’s where the granddaughter of Anson County Sheriff Landric Reid was shot early Sunday morning. 16-year-old Shaundasia Smith died from her injuries.
Roger Lee Rorie Jr. is charged with involuntary manslaughter, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and felony obstruction of justice in Smith’s death.
The shooting appears accidental, but neighbors say they want to know more.
People who live in the neighborhood say they often saw the Sheriff’s granddaughter walking down the road with a friend.
“She’s got friends down this way. So that’s why she’s down this way,” one neighbor says.
“It’s a tragedy. It’s just, a tragedy. Anybody get in a situation like that, it’s a bad thing,” another neighbor says.
