Gaston County Woman Surrenders To Face Child Abuse Charges

GASTONΒ COUNTY, N.C. — A Gaston County woman, who was wanted in connection with an investigation from earlier this month, has turned herself in to face charges of child abuse.

Taylor Rainer Wilhelm is charged with Felony Child Abuse, and Misdemeanor Contributing to the Abuse of a Juvenile. She turned herself in to Gaston County Police today and is being held in the Gaston County Jail under $250,000 secured bond.

Wilhelm’s arrest is the result of the investigation into an incident that occurred on March 11th, 2015, in which Wilhelm’s fourteen-month-old child was found to have been injured by acute blunt force trauma and the child’s father, Matthew Paul Jenkins, was arrested and charged with Felony Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury and Misdemeanor Assault on a ChildΒ Under 12.

A warrant was issued for Wilhelm on March 16th, but her whereabouts had been unknown.

The child is expected to make a full recovery and is currently under the supervision of Health and Human services of Gaston County.
