COLUMBUS, GA.– A Georgia waitress is being praised for her honesty after she discovered an envelope full of money at the restaurant where she works and decided to do the right thing.
Katessa Smith has worked at Countryβs Barbecue for about four years. Smith said it was just a normal day at work until she came across that envelope while she was busing a table.
The single mother of two had found $1,300 on the table and immediately turned it in to her manager.
βGrowing up we were always taught if you find something thatβs not yours to give it back,β Smith said.
The restaurant turned to social media to find the rightful owners.
Smith said the restaurant looked back at surveillance footage to determine when the customers left. Then they posted photos from the surveillance video on Facebook to see if anyone recognized the people.
The Countryβs Barbecue post spread all over Facebook and the couple was finally located.
