Battle of the Seasons

Steamy conditions are in control of the Carolinas for now, but we may get another quick shot of fall by the end of the workweek.

Happy Labor Day! Many of us may be off from work today, but our holiday from the heat and humidity has come to an end (for now). A passing cold front brought clouds and a few showers to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, but not much else. In fact, temperatures should only rise heading into midweek, despite a brief shift in winds to the northeast. Expect mid-to-upper 80s in the Piedmont with upper 70s in the mountains for Tuesday and Wednesday before another cold front bumps up rain chances Wednesday afternoon and evening.

This second cold front should do what the first one couldn’t: bring in cooler and drier air. The lower 80s and 70s across the board should close out the workweek before the heat builds back in by the end of the weekend. Overnight lows may return to the 40s and 50s both Thursday and Friday night.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low: 66°. Wind: NE 5-10.

Tuesday: Variable clouds. Stray shower chance. High: 87°. Wind: E 5-10.

Tuesday Night: Clouds build. Stray shower chance late. Low: 69°. Wind: SW 5-10.

Wednesday: Partly-to-mostly sunny. PM isolated storms. High: 87°. Wind: SW 5-10.
