CHARLOTTE, NC — It looks like Charlotte’s budget battle will not take the focus off City Council’s five priorities for 2016.

Council members talked about those priorities Monday night. Β They include housing and neighborhood development, economic development, community safety, transportation and the environment.

Council members questioned whether it’s still a good idea to develop an amateur sports complex in east Charlotte. Β They also want to keep the 2030 transportation plan moving forward, though there’s not money to build new rail lines.

Charlotte is dealing with a $14 million budget gap for next year.
