CHARLOTTE, NC — Seven non-profits were honored Tuesday for their service to the Charlotte community.
Mayor Dan Clodfelter marked the Third Annual Mayor’s Day for Recognition of National Service at the Faith Memorial Baptist Church in west Charlotte. All the non-profits honored rely on Americorps members to accomplish their mission each year.
“We got volunteers today and organizations like Americorps and Senior Corps, Teach for America. All of those organizations that really do stand out and make the community a better place,” said Mayor Clodfelter.
The Americorps program is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the nation’s largest grant maker.
