Born in England and a resident of Charlotte since the 8th grade, Wilson pairs his dry British humor with a fun-loving attitude of the South. In short, he likes Fish, Chips, AND NASCAR.
2016 will mark over 20 years of broadcasting in Charlotte, 12 of it at WCCB-TV. You can also find him on two of the biggest HDTVβs in the world at Charlotte Motor Speedway & Texas Motor Speedway during major events.
Some may remember him on the radio at WBT 1110am, 1065 The End, or on 99.7 the Fox and also for many years with the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team.
His specialty? Making people laugh. βApplause is almost mandatory,β he says. βIf you can make people laugh, you are really doing something.β
His most memorable shows at WCCB-TV would have to be rapelling 35 stories down the side of the VUE building uptown for Special Olympics, and skydiving into Symphony Park at SouthPark on Memorial Day with the Golden Knights.
One of his favorite moments was MCing the mascot game at halftime of Monday Night Football with the Carolina Panthers, and also being on stage at the first Super Bowl pep rally at Trade & Tryon, leading thousands of fans in βLetβs Go Panthersβ
His family donβt go on vacations..they take βadventuresβ and if you ever meet him ask about spending a week in Cleveland..or cooking breakfast with Mickey at Disney..he has good stories! Heβs on the Charlotte advisory board of the USO of North Carolina. Heβs a big supporter of the Second Harvest Food Bank, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and also Hands on Charlotte.
In 2012 he was named βBest Local TV Personalityβ by Creative Loafing
In 2011 he was named the βGood Neighbor of the Yearβ by the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Wilson was at the Harvey B. Gantt Center giving us a look at some of the new exhibits and collections that are currently at the center.
Wilson took us in the kitchen at Johnson & Wales University for the finals of the 8th Annual S&D Culinary Challenge.
Wilson was at the Carolinas Poison Center in Charlotte where he was getting safety tips and important information regarding poison control and emergencies.
Wilson was on the side of the road this morning where he was telling us more about the ArtPop Street Gallery and meeting some of the local artists participating.
Wilson was in Uptown Charlotte with Victoria Schweizer learning more about her Southern Luxurie gift baskets.
Wilson joins Steve Smith at 10 Park Lanes to talk about this weekend's event to support the Steve Smith Family Foundation's Smith Family Wellness Center.
Wilson was at Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Carolina Place Mall where he was introducing us to Kimmery Martin who is debuting her book "The Queen of Hearts" which hits bookstores today.
Wilson was at Harris Teeter in South End this morning getting some great ideas for Valentine's Day.
