The National Weather Service has confirmed two separate EF-1 tornadoes. One stretching from Polkville to Cherryville the other stretching from Gastonia to Belmont.
Two to three rounds of strong to severe storms will be possible across the region through Thursday. Damaging wind, large hail, localized flooding and isolated tornadoes will all be possible.
With hurricane season rapidly approaching, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey urges North Carolinians to use National Hurricane Preparedness Week, which runs May 5-11, as a time to prepare for the potential of extreme weather.
