GREENSBORO, N.C. – Dozens of Bianca Tanner’s friends and family gathered Wednesday around the reflection pool on the North Carolina A&T University campus to offer prayer and support for Tanner’s family. Tanner’s sister, Cerise Richardson, tells WCCB, “Not being able to pick up the phone and talk to her or not being able to hug her, kiss her, laugh with her, um, this is definitely the longest that we’ve been apart, or gone without speaking, so it’s definitely painful.”
Tanner hasn’t been seen since June 8th. Her boyfriend, Angelo Smith, Junior, reported her missing and now, police say he is a person of interest in the case, which they’ve classified as a homicide investigation. There’s been no activity on Tanner’s cell phone or bank accounts.
Smith has a history of criminal charges related to domestic violence, something CMPD calls “disturbing.” CMPD also says Smith has misled and misdirected them throughout the investigation. Chief Rodney Monroe says, “We only ask for a true and accurate account of what occurred. That’s all we asked for, but do not believe that we’ve received it.”
A fundraising website for Tanner’s family has collected nearly $3,000. They are considering hiring a private investigator and purchasing billboards from Greensboro to Charlotte. There’s a $5,000 reward for info that leads to Bianca Tanner. Call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
