CMPD Officer Shot in York County

UPDATE:  The officer injured in the shooting has been identified as Officer Shane Page.  Police Chief Rodney Monroe said the officer is out of surgery and is doing well.  Page was shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in the abdomen.  He has been a member of the CMPD since 2000.  He is assigned to the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.  He is currently listed in serious but stable condition. 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A CMPD officer with the department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team was shot while serving a warrant this morning.

The shooting happened at 314 Brookside Drive in Fort Mill. The officer was working with the York County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Investigators say the suspect, 31 year old James Williams Lewis, exchanged gunfire with law enforcement striking the CMPD officer.

Lewis has non-life threatening injuries. The CMPD officer’s name isn’t being released until family is notified.
