CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  IKEA of Charlotte is known for connecting with the community. Wilson was at the Refugee Support Services of the Carolinas where he found out more about the organization and how IKEA’s international initiative “Brighter Lives for Refugees” is helping refugees.

From February 2 through March 29th IKEA will donate $1 to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for every LEDARE light bulb sold.  IKEA Charlotte will be donating 250 LED light bulbs to the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency for distribution to refugees.

Wilson talked with refugees who are new to our country and have received help and support from both organizations to get acclimated to our country and get settled into their new home.  This includes finding housing, learning English and finding employment.   He found out how the work at the organizations bring people full circle.

Find out how you can help these organizations with your donations or time at their websites here: Refugee Support Services of the Carolinas and Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency.
