CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD announced their 2014 Telecommunicator of the Year.Β Gina Thompson was selected from a field of more than 100 telecommunicators who work in the CMPD’s Communications Division.Β
In 2013, CMPD telecommunicators received more than 800,000 incoming 911 calls.Β They also transferred calls for fire or emergency medical services to those respective agencies and entered calls for service when police assistance was needed.Β
Last year, Thompson answered and processed 7,166 of those emergency 911 calls.Β Thompson’s work and dedication will be recognized during a special presentation in Council Chambers at the Government Center Wednesday.
