A rainy Easter Sunday
Tracking Easter showers and storms
Easter weekend is shaping up to end with scattered showers and storms across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area. I’m tracking the potential for scattered downpours and a few thunderstorms this evening. A storm or two could produce gusty winds and small hail. Rain chances die down after midnight as we prepare for another round of Rain for Easter Sunday.
Easter morning looks mostly dry before church service with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s across the Piedmont. However, you will want to grab the Umbrella on your way out the door as rain chances rise during the late morning hours. Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms will last on and off through the afternoon before clearing out by the evening hours. The severe weather threat is low, but a storm or two could pack some gustier winds and heavy rainfall. While this isn’t ideal for outdoor plans, the rain is much needed as a statewide burn ban continues due to worsening drought conditions.
After Easter things return to very dry through the rest of the 7 day forecast. The other major story is the temperature swings that will occur next week. Afternoon highs drop back to the low to mid 60s by Wednesday with morning lows in the upper 30s and low 40s in the Piedmont. Warm weather will build back in by the end of next week as 80s make a return by next weekend. Planting season looks to be good to get started in the Piedmont, although be cautious of isolated pockets of frost this week.
