Yeah, Patrick, you go ahead and take another selfie, because this one didn’t turn out so hot. Just a week after pleading guilty to federal corruption charges, the mayor’s posting a smilin’ selfie on his Facebook page. One that is now removed, by the way.
The picture showed up last night on the former mayor’s Facebook page. Just him, smiling, sitting on a couch. And the picture blew up, getting likes as well as negative comments. Maybe not exactly the kind of picture you’d expect from someone who admitted to taking bribe money from federal investigators… and someone who’s still looking at jail time.
But Cannon’s certainly not the first political type to take an ill-advised selfie. Remember when people saw the selfie President Obama was in with the Prime Ministers of Denmark and Britain? It was while he was at Nelson Mandela’s Memorial.
The whole point of a selfie is that you’re trying to say something, although it’s not always clear what if you don’t post a statement. So our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, tries to sort this one out: what is Patrick Cannon saying? Hashtag it!
