WASHINGTON, D.C.- Lawmakers passed legislation Tuesday to name a Ranger Station inside the Grandfather Ranger District in Nebo, North Carolina the “Jason Crisp Forest Service Building,” in honor of fallen U.S. Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp.Β
Republican Congressman Mark Meadows of North Carolina introduced the legislation in April following Ofc. Crisp’s death in the line of duty in March. Β Crisp was killed during a manhunt for a homicide suspect in Burke County. Β Crisp and his K9, Maros, were shot and killed.Β
Β
Meadows’ bill had the support of the entire NC House delegation. Β He says, “Officer Jason Crisp served his community bravely and selflessly. Β I hope this station will be a reminder to his family and friends of that service.” Β Meadows also says, “It was an honor to not only recognize Officer Crisp, but all first responders, who sacrifice so much to answer the call to protect and serve our communities.Β
Β
Crisp was a 16 year veteran of the United States Forest Service. Β He is survived by his wife, two children, parents, sister and two brothers.
