Man on the Edge: Bubble Wrap!

This video is no longer available.

Is there anything more satisfying than poppin’ a big ole mess of bubble wrap?  Wait a minute, flip that: is there anything more annoying than being forced to listen to somebody else pop a big ole mess of bubble wrap?  And therein lies the conflict that establishes tonight’s Edge.

Sealed Air Corporation is coming to town!  It’s a Fortune 500 company that’ll be shifting nearly 1,300 jobs to the Queen City.  Of course, you’ve never heard of them, but you know the product they make:  bubble wrap!  Those plastic sheets full of pressurized air blisters that are perfect for packing.  And popping!

There’s something almost therapeutic about popping bubble wrap.  Cathartic.  If you’re the one doing it.  But it can also be a real pain.  Listening to someone else pop bubble wrap might be fun for a few, but when you’re not in control of it, well, it can drive you crazy.

And of course, some people just can’t stand to hear bubble wrap popping at all.  It’s like listening to somebody smacking their chewing gum.

Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, revealed his superhero alter-ego for tonight’s topic: bubble wrap: awesome or awful?
