Man on the Edge: Is Alcohol an Equalizer Between Men and Women?

Ladies, remember the drinking scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark?  When Marion proved her stuff by drinking a man under the table?  Looks like she was decades ahead of her time.  When it comes to doing big business, it looks like ladies need to hit the bottle.

When it comes to working women, more and more are hitting the hard stuff: liquor.  But it’s not when they get home from a hard day at the office.  Worldwide, women are using booze as a networking tool.  The idea is that alcohol is an equalizer, showing men that the women have what it takes to compete.  Though we should add, the trend has not caught on here in the US.

This is hot on the heels of another study that said people who drink the most are the power players in their social groups.  Researchers followed hundreds of people over two months, and found that those who drank the most, and the most often, held higher social standing.

Combine that with today’s news that women are using alcohol as a business tool, and it makes it seem like the three-martini lunch is back in fashion.

Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, hit the streets to find out if you think alcohol really is an equalizer…
