CHARLOTTE, NC — The defense will begin presenting its case Monday in the trial of a former high school wrestling coach charged with sex crimes involving students. Prosecutors in the Gary “Scott” Goins trial rested late Friday afternoon.
Goins’ third accuser was back on the stand for cross-examination Friday. And witnesses testified about the accuser’s relationship with the coach, and his admission to being molested by Goins.
“Started crying, said he was molested by his high school wrestling coach. And I said, ‘Who’? And he said, ‘Scott Goins’,” said current wresting coach Ronnie Huitt.
Huitt says he called police to report the abuse after the accuser told him about Goins. Goins’ attorney claims he was a tough coach, but never sexually abused any of his wrestlers.
