CHARLOTTE, NC — The defense will begin presenting its case Monday in the trial of a former high school wrestling coach charged with sex crimes involving students. Β Prosecutors in the Gary “Scott” Goins trial rested late Friday afternoon. Β

Goins’ third accuser was back on the stand for cross-examination Friday. Β And witnesses testified about the accuser’s relationship with the coach, and his admission to being molested by Goins.

“Started crying, said he was molested by his high school wrestling coach. Β And I said, ‘Who’? Β And he said, ‘Scott Goins’,” said current wresting coach Ronnie Huitt.

Huitt says he called police to report the abuse after the accuser told him about Goins. Β Goins’ attorney claims he was a tough coach, but never sexually abused any of his wrestlers.
