LOS ANGELES (AP) β A night after Detroit’s Max Scherzer failed to become baseball’s first 14-game winner of the season, Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers will get his chance this evening. CINCINNATI (AP) β Quarterback Andy Dalton has signed a big-money, six-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. The agreement comes after three straight years of passing for over 3,000 yards. Dalton led the Bengals to an 11-5 record and AFC North title in 2013.
NEW YORK (AP) β It’s the end of the line for New York Giants running back David Wilson. He is being forced to retire after just two NFL seasons because of a back injury. The Giants’ first-round pick in the 2012 draft has been told by doctors that further play could lead to more serious problems.
UNDATED (AP) β The agent for Tiger Woods said in an email Monday that it’s too early for doctors to decide if the 14-time major champion can compete in the PGA Championship this week. Woods withdrew from the Bridgestone Invitational Sunday after having back spasms in his third tournament since returning from a three-month absence following back surgery in March.
