Hornets’ PJ Hairston Gets New Court Date

DURHAM, N.C. — Charlotte Hornets’ P.J. Hairston received a new court date for his assault charge.

Hairston was not in court Friday morning in Durham but his lawyer was there to represent him.  A judge set the new court date to September 12th.

Hairston is accused of punching a high school basketball player, Kentrell Barkley, twice during a pick-up game at a Durham YMCA.  Hairston faces up to 60 days in jail if he is convicted.

Hairston’s agent says Barkley threw the first punch.  Hairston has had several issues off the basketball court.  Due to these issues, he lost his NCAA eligibility at the University of North Carolina.
