CHARLOTTE, N.C. – “Big kids helping little kids”…that is not only the motto of the Hometown Heroes, but it is something that Wilson believes in as well. He was at Texas Roadhouse in Matthews where he was with members of Hometown Heroes and some of the soda fueled kids the group has helped.Β
This Friday, September 12th, members of Hometown Heroes will be dropping kids off to school.Β But these kids aren’t just any kids, they are kids who have been taken out of school and hospitalized due to serious illnesses or tragic accidents.Β They are now going back to school…and in style.
WilsonΒ was really excited to talk again with Sydney, a young lady that he first met last year.Β Wilson found that Sydney has gotten healthier and happier after her treatments.Β He also talked with Hailey and Kate two special girls that are also part of the Hometown Heros program.Β All three girls had a great time hanging with Wilson and are looking forward to their special ride to school on Friday.Β Seems they had a little too much soda this morning.
Riders and kids will meet at Texas Roadhouse in Matthews at 8am to get ready for the school drop off.Β After safely leaving the kids at school, the group will then “Head for the Hills” on their 13th Annual Road Tour that will take them to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and back to Charlotte.Β The ride is a yearly event to raise money so Hometown Heroes can help children and their families who are in need due to the serious illness of their child.
Members of the Waxhaw Police Department, Monroe Police Department, Union County and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Departments as well as CMPD are all taking part in the ride this weekend.
Even if you are not riding with the Hometown Hereos, you can stop in to support them with a great send off!
