NEW YORK (AP) β€” The Ivy League-educated former head of New York Mets ticket sales has sued the club, saying she was fired last month because she had been pregnant and single.

Leigh Castergine’s lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court. It seeks unspecified damages and to prevent future discrimination.

In the lawsuit, Castergine lawyers described how the one-time $6-an-hour ticket agent for the Philadelphia 76ers advanced through the Mets organization after joining in December 2010.

They say that changed in August 2013, after she became pregnant. The lawsuit alleged that Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Wilpon humiliated her after becoming fixated on the idea she was pregnant and unmarried.

In a statement, the Mets said the claims were without merit. It said the team maintains strong policies against all forms of discrimination.
