RIPON, NORTH YORKSHIRE, U.K. — A roller coaster in England hit and decapitated a deer that had strayed too close to the tracks.
The Ultimate at Lightwater Valley, which is the longest roller coaster in Europe, collided with the animal and the accident reportedly decapitated the deer and left passengers covered in blood. No passengers were injured in the accident
The deer was hit by the train at the amusement park near Ripon, North Yorkshire, as the roller coaster traveled along it’s normal route at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.
The deer managed to bypass the park fence sometime during the night. This is not the first time that the Ultimate has hit a deer. Another deer was hit in 1994 in a similar incident in which no passengers were injured, but a 12 year old boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
