CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson has found himself in some strange situations, but today was a new one for him. While at the Duke Energy training facility on Toddville Road in Charlotte he donned all of the lineman’s issued equipment and attempted to climb a pole. And you can guess the outcome…..
The linemen with Duke Energy go through very rigourous training to make sure that your power stays up and keeping you out of the dark. Wilson talked with linemen who have worked through hurricanes, ice storms and other extreme weather in Charlotte, at the coast and in the mountains.
Linemen from different areas of the state come together at the training facility not only to train, but to learn safety procedures, CPR and how to save the life of their fellow lineman should an emergency arise when working on the lines.
They talked about some of the sacifices that are made for their job, but they also discussed why the job is not only important to them, but why they enjoy it so much.
