CHARLOTTE, NC — A two-year-old shot in a drive-by in northwest Charlotte will remain in the hospital overnight.  We’re learning more about how the shooting happened.

Mackenzie Baskins was playing inside a home on Capps Hollow Drive when someone fired several shots Tuesday night.  Wednesday, one of her family members told WCCB Charlotte another person inside the house was the real target because of an argument he got into earlier in the day.

“She’s going to definitely have permanent scarring of her physical body,” said northwest Charlotte resident Eric Glenn.  “She will get through it.  She will get to see another year, and maybe when she gets older she will learn the aspect of what happened that she could have possibly lost her life and not been here to go on and live.”

Mackenzie’s family says there is still a bullet fragment in her arm.
