GASTONIA, N.C. — Firefighters from three departments worked together Monday morning to extinguish a commercial structure fire in Gaston County.
Crews from Crowder’s Mountain Fire and Rescue, Union Road Volunteer Fire Department, and Ranlo Fire and Rescue, arrived at CBP Resources incorporated around 2 a.m. to find smoke billowing from the side of the building. Inside they were confronted with flames that reached nearly 14 feet high.
It took almost 90 minutes to extinguish the fire, which was caused by excessive heat build up and the ignition of materials around a cooker used inside the plant.
The five employees working inside the plant at the time of the fire were all evacuated without injury.
