CHARLOTTE, NC — Two grandparents faced a second shooting in one week at their home.
Last Tuesday, police say their 14-year-old grandson was forced to kill an intruder at their home on Rolling Fields Rd.
Wednesday morning, George Wyant woke up to his wife and two grandsons screaming after someone shot through their window.
“It’s like a terrorist,” said Wyant.
His wife was alone last week with their 14-year-old grandson when police say Isai Delcid and his brother, Carlos Delcid, broke into the house.
The teenager shot and killed Isai. Carlos is still in jail.
“My grandson saved my life,” said Anna Marie Wyant.
She spoke on camera only to WCCB Charlotte after the crime.
She says she knows Carlos. He cleaned air ducts around her home.
Police arrested him three times for stealing her medication. Then, the deadly break-in happened.
“I know somebody got killed, but they shouldn’t have been here, shouldn’t be breaking into a home,” said George Wyant. “What do you expect people to do?”
Their neighbor, Chuck Austin, agrees.
“I mean, if somebody breaks into your home, and you’re fearing for your life, you do what you have to do,” said Austin.
The latest shooting has them wondering what’s next and will someone get caught in the crossfire?
“What do you want to do just keep this up forever until somebody else gets killed?” said George Wyant.
Police aren’t saying if this latest shooting is related to last week’s break-in.
“I say everybody arm themselves,” said George Wyant. “Get ready because you don’t know who’s coming in, what they’re going to do, what’s on their mind.”
Police plan to stay outside the home until further notice. They are still searching for suspects in the latest shooting.
