CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  It was a minus 18 degrees celsius in the freezer that houses the blood donations at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas when Wilson stepped inside of it this morning.  He was inside the freezer to show us the empty shelves that need to be filled with blood donations.

But before he went inside the freezer, he was talking with Robbie and Angie Fincher who are regular donors at the center.  They both  talked with Wilson on why donating is so important.  He also talked with Chase Graham about his donations.  All 3 donors feel that it is important to give back for those who are in need of blood.

Beginning January 1st, the Community Blood Center will be kicking off their drive in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank.  For every pint of blood donated during the drive, 7 pounds of food will be donated to Second Harvest to help end hunger in the community.

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is a member of the America’s Blood Centers, a group of 72 independent blood centers that supplies 50% of the blood across the country.  To find out more about donating blood at the center as well as their hours and donation drives, go to their website at www.cbcc.us.
