CHARLOTTE,  N.C. –   Wilson was at UNC Charlotte this morning with students in the university’s Barnhardt Student Activity Center as they kicked off their 5th Annual 49ers for Life Blood Drive.  Their goal for the drive is 1,000 pints, but they hope to break the record set by Appalachian State University of 1,315 pints donated.

Before the drive officially kicked off this morning, Wilson took the opportunity to talk with some of the people who have been recipients of donated blood.  Their stories are sure to tug at your heart strings.

The American Red Cross tells us that one pint of blood can save up to 3 lives.  Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood . Today the students at UNC Charlotte are doing their part to make sure those people receive their life saving gift.

The 49ers for Life Blood Drive continues in the Halton Arena inside the  Barhardt Student Activity Center on the campus at UNC Charlotte until 7pm today.
