MOUNT HOLLY, NC — An undercover drug bust led police to a string of crimes and meth labs in Gaston County.
Β
“Warning: Hazardous Chemical” signs hang on two suspected meth labs in Mount Holly after police say the sting operation revealed a drug and gun market and ended in 15 arrests.
Β
“They need to lock them up and throw away the key,” said Robert O’Dell.
Β
Police arrested Travis Setzer at the suspected meth lab onΒ Fite Road. Less than a mile away, they arrested Earnest Price at another suspected lab on Blanche Avenue.Β Officers say the dangerous chemicals and drugs were down the street from a local daycare.
Β
“I got grandchildren that stay with us all the time,” said John Grindstaff. “So, we don’t want that around the grandkids.”
Β
For nearly six months, undercover officers and agents say they bought meth, cocain, pain pills and guns from people in the Catawba Heights community.Β Numerous neighbors say they have been calling police for years hoping to clean up the drugs and crime.
Β
Robert O’Dell’s brother was forced to move. Now, he’s doing the same. Β “It’s sad I have to move and my brother would have to move to get away from this before something was done,” said O’Dell.
Β
Now, officers expect more charges against the 15 suspects.
