CMS Superintendent Ann Clark Gives State of Our Schools Address

CHARLOTTE, NC– Newly appointed CMSΒ superintendent, Ann Clark, gave her first State of Our Schools address Thursday at East Mecklenburg High School.

Clark spoke to elected officials, community, faith and business leaders on the school districts goals to achieve a new level of academic exellence.

β€œEducating a child is a process that begins at home and continues all the way through school and into the workplace and the wider world,” she said. β€œEducation cannot be accomplished or measured in a single day, a single test or a single year. It’s a lifelong journey that builds on success in the early grades to create a foundation for learning later on. This is our moment to move our students, our schools and our district to a new level of excellence and effectiveness.”

Β Clark called on the audience and the community at large to support Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and its district-wide strategic goals.

Β β€œI challenge you to think about your individual role in supporting CMS and how your organization, business, nonprofit or faith house can provide its time and treasure to support our strategy,” she said. β€œOur students need us. They need our support.”
