Wanted Felon Arrested Near Local Day Care

BELMONT, NC — Troopers pulled out guns and arrested a wanted felon near small children at a Gaston County day care.  

Teachers at the New Bridge Children’s Academy in Belmont made sure the kids were safe when officers put them on lock down Wednesday.

Highway Patrol and police caught Juston Upton during a traffic stop near the day care.  He was wanted on felony fraud, theft and firearms charges in North Carolina and Tennessee.

He is being held in the Gaston County jail on a $1 million bond.
