
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested two teenagers for their involvement in more than 30 break-ins in Charlotte.
Investigators say two 15-year-old juveniles tried to break into a home on Derryfield Drive Friday morning while the homeowner was inside.
Detectives say the suspects ran away after they heard the victim inside the home. The suspects were located a short time later on Tom Hunter Road.
Police say while they were taking the suspects into custody, another person claimed to have their backpack stolen from a nearby car. Police say one of the suspects had the backpack in his possession when he was taken into custody.
The suspects allegedly confessed to breaking into more than 30 homes over the past several months. Both suspects have been charged with breaking and entering and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. Additional charges are pending.
