NEW YORK, N.Y. — Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina have field a lawsuit against Fox News for defamation regarding comments made by host Sean Hannity and commentator Michelle Fields.
According to court documents, the comments were made on Hannity’s show during a discussion of celebrity overdoses on February 4th, 2014, two days after the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, and suggested “as a matter of fact” that Lohan’s mother Dina was “doing cocaine with her daughter”.
Fox News said in a statement to Reuters: “Our legal team has not reviewed this yet so we cannot comment.”
Lawyers for the Lohans say that they are seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. They also want Fox News to stop distributing the February 4th broadcast.
