Β ROCK HILL, SC — A new push to ban smoking in all of Rock Hill’s public parks. Β City Council members heard the plan at Monday night’s meeting.
In addition to parks, it would ban lighting up at recreation centers, on trails and greenways, and at the Novant Health BMX Supercross Track.
“It sends a message to the community, and people then feel that they can say something. Β It can be very polite or something else, but we just think it’s an important statement to make for parks,” said Parks and Recreation Commission Vice Chair Bev Caroll. Β “
In 2009, the city banned smoking in enclosed areas and within 10 feet of any entrance to a business.
