CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man was killed after he was hit by a train in west Charlotte Wednesday night. Β
Investigators say 23-year-old Allen Jackson was standing on the tracks along West Boulevard around 5:30pm. Β
As the train approached, the conductor sounded the horn but police say Jackson hesitated and then tried to pick up a backpack that was next to the tracks. Β
The conductor pulled the emergency brake but the train struck Jackson. Β
