CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has cancelled all after-school, extended day and athletic activities for Tuesday, February 24.
All Community Use of Schools events are also cancelled. The After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP) will remain on its regular schedule. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in some areas of the county this evening.
CMS leaders use the latest information about weather and road conditions to inform decisions whenever severe weather is possible. CMS leaders were in contact with city and county agencies and monitored local and national weather services throughout the early morning.
At 5 a.m., when our buses started routes, streets were clear of any accumulation, road and bridge temperatures were well above freezing and the weather projection was favorable for school bus travel.
Minor snow dustings on school campuses were effectively removed by custodial staff and there were no heat or power issues at our schools.
We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions throughout the week.
