Police: Homeowner Shoots And Kills Intruder In Claremont

CLAREMONT, N.C. — Police say a homeowner shot and killed an intruder Monday morning in Claremont. Β 

Investigators say the homeowner was sleeping when he heard someone breaking into his basement. Β He immediately called 911 but shot the intruder in the chest when the suspect broke through the door. Β 

The unidentified intruder was pronounced dead at the hospital. Β Authorities are looking for a second suspect who pulled away from the home in a dark blue mini-van. Β Anyone with information should call 911.
