Clark tops teenager Kim for 8th US Open title

VAIL, Colo. (AP) — Kelly Clark won the Burton U.S. Open for the eighth time Saturday, overcoming 14-year-old Chloe Kim, who landed a 1,080-degree jump in competition for the first time.

The 31-year-old Clark has been doing 1,080s for a while now. She landed it cleanly on her second run, en route to a score of 91. Despite landing the frontside 1,080 — three full revolutions of spin — on her last two attempts, Kim finished more than two points behind.

Arielle Gold finished third.

Clark takes home $45,000 for her third straight title at the U.S. Open. Her first win in Vail came in 2002, when Kim was 22 months old.
