Davis Cup: Kukushkin beats Seppi to force decider

ASTANA, Kazakhstan (AP) — Kazakhstan’s Davis Cup first-round match with Italy is heading to a deciding fifth rubber Sunday after Kazakh No. 1 Mikhail Kukushkin beat Andreas Seppi in straight sets to level the tie at 2-2.

Following a lengthy first-set tiebreak, Kukushkin had all the momentum as he won 7-6 (8), 6-0, 6-4.

Later Sunday on the hard courts of the National Tennis Center in the Kazakh capital of Astana, Kazakhstan’s Andrei Golubev plays Italy’s Simone Bolelli to decide which country progresses to the quarterfinals.

The pair previously met in Saturday’s doubles, when Bolelli and partner Fabio Fognini won in four sets against Golubev and Alexander Nedovesov.
