Padres hit 3 homers off DeSclafani, beat Reds 6-3

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Matt Kemp hit the first of San Diego’s three homers off Anthony DeSclafani — a new addition to Cincinnati’s rotation — and the Padres pulled away to a 6-3 victory over the Reds on Monday.

Kemp hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning for his fourth homer of the spring.

Clint Barmes added a solo shot, and Yangervis Solarte had a three-run homer during the fifth inning. DeSclafani gave up six runs and seven hits in six innings. The Reds got him from Miami in an offseason trade for Mat Latos and are counting on him to fill one of three openings in the rotation.

San Diego right-hander Ian Kennedy pitched six scoreless innings. Kennedy will start the Padres’ home opener against the San Francisco Giants.
