Blazers, Spurs can clinch…Nets, Pacers, Celtics battle for eighth

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Trail Blazers can clinch their first outright Northwest Division title since 1991-92 when they host the Clippers tonight. A win over the Clippers combined with an Oklahoma City loss at home to Dallas will clinch the division for Portland.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Defending NBA champ San Antonio can clinch an NBA Western Conference playoff spot when they visit Orlando. The Spurs seem to be peaking at the right time, having won four in a row and holding the lead 87 percent of the time.

NEW YORK (AP) — Brooklyn goes for its fifth win in a row tonight in an effort to hang onto the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference when they visit the last-place Knicks. The Nets enter play with a half-game lead over Boston for eighth place in the post-season derby.

BOSTON (AP) — Indiana and the Celtics square off in Boston tonight as they battle to get into the playoff picture. The Celtics are a half game out of the Eastern Conference picture while the Pacers enter having lost eight of their last ten and trailing eighth-place Brooklyn by a game and a half.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh tries to continue its playoff push when the Penguins host Philadelphia. The Flyers have won the previous two games between the two. The Penguins have won two in a row after a string of seven games in which they only won once.
