York Teen Sentenced To Prison After Plotting To Join ISIS

YORK, S.C. — A teenager from York has been sentenced to prison for plotting to join ISIS and kill American soldiers in North Carolina.

Officials say the 16-year-old was sentenced to five years in a juvenile prison on gun charges.

During the court hearing, information was released claiming the teen’s family was from Syria and the teen was seduced by the terrorist group ISIS.

Solicitor Kevin Brackett claims the teen had a plan to randomly shoot American soldiers after he robbed a gun store near Raleigh.

Police arrested the teen for being in possession of a gun in February.  He allegedly told officers that he planned the plot via social media.

The teen planned on traveling to the Middle East after he and another teen, from North Carolina, killed soldiers at a military base in North Carolina.

The teen from North Carolina has also been arrested and charged.  Their names have not been released due to their ages.
